Rodeo Time

Back on March 12, Liz and I took the kids to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We chose to use the park and ride lot off US 290 and it really turned out to be a good decision. Early that day a gasoline tanker rolled over on LP 610 and almost the entire South loop was shut down. Since the Rodeo takes place at the Reliant Center which is on 610 South, I wouldn’t have know an easy alternative route. As a plus, we rode in on a really nice commercial coach bus. We scored some really great tickets from some friends with the Burleson County Go-Texan group and the seats were just off the shoots for the bull riders and bronc riders. Awesome view of just about everything.
Even with the extra-time required for the detour (about an hour, even by bus) we arrived just in time for the beginning of the Rodeo. The girls gobbled down a whole bucket of cotton candy and Liz and I shared a foot-long chili dog. I hadn’t been to the Rodeo in a couple of years and I really forgot how much fun it is.
