Favorites from the past

I took these images back in October 2003.  The Thunderbirds gave a demonstration over the A&M campus in conjuction with conference at the George Bush Library.  A lot of clouds that day, which really hurt in getting good contrast against the white jets.  A good case for shooting in RAW format.  I’ve actually reprocessed the original RAW files with the newer softer available.  I still have to apologize for the dirty lens, however.  I rather anal about cleaning my lens these days.

Just like to point out…

I really like this somewhat posed shot of the kids.  Posed in that I had them sit in a particular location… more candid in that I didn’t ask them to stand a particular way.

Okay, so this one is more natural than the first… I’m torn.

George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

DrewH on Jul 28th 2009

Back on July 4, Liz and took the kids out to the George Bush Library to check out the new exhibits.  Liz had never been before and it had been a few years since I had visited.  Celeste was somewhat of an old hand already as she had just taken a school field trip.  In fact, she returned about a week later on a Summer Camp field trip.

There isn’t any flash photography allowed in the museum and the lighting is rather subdued, which makes it difficult to make a photograph without using a high ISO or a realy shallow depth of field.  I compiled my best.

I was really excited about the NASA exhibit.  There were a lot of really cool artifacts, including cameras used by the astronauts to take images of the Earth and the Moon, packages of dehydrated food, various space suits and helmets.  There is also a section on the influences of NASA on everyday life (many plastics, composite materials, imaging systems).

Of course, my money is on the giant LEGO space man,

Giant Lego Man

and you can’t leave out Boba Fett.
