New Photos!
DrewH on Sep 27th 2008
This past week I’ve been working on a new image gallery. After slogging through various different versions, compatibility issues, old versions, new versions, plugins, modules, and database tables, I’ve decided to go an easier route. Remove all the bells and whistles and go with just straight html pages and Picassa’s built in gallery creation ability.
With that said, at the top of the page you will see a tab labeled “Photo Albums”. I have three galleries up with others to come as I clean out the Coppermine gallery. No registration required. Enjoy.

Egg news
DrewH on Sep 18th 2008
A co-worker of Liz’s introduced us to Ener-G-egg. It’s an non-egg based egg replacement for backing. We had some time and got to baking this past weekend (the hurricane weekend). I attempted to make a cake, some brownies, some muffins, cookies, and some banana-nut bread. We had mixed results. Continue Reading »

Ike Aftermath
DrewH on Sep 18th 2008
The storm came in Saturday morning for us. Wind started picking up more around 7 AM. Light rain had started and then by 8:30 it was really raining hard. Due to Ike tracking just a little more northward (good for us, not good for Galveston) we didn’t get the predicted 60 mph winds. I would say the steady wind was around 20 to 25 mph. Some of the tin on the shed roof peeled up but that was about it. The surrounding communities fared pretty well as far as damage. However, most of the counties around Bryan/College Station were without electrical service due the system damage around Beaumont and Houston. Power was just recently restored to Caldwell, Franklin, and parts of Navasota and Madisonville. Smaller places like Normangee and Old Washington (Washington on the Brazos) still do not have power.
Lots of pictures around, I’ve been trying to compile some myself. I’ll get them loaded up tonight or tomorrow.

Ike Update #3

The Governor gave a speech yesterday about the State’s preparations for Hurricane Ike. You can find the prepared remarks and video of the speech here. There’s a note at the top of the page that says, “Gov. Perry frequently departs from prepared remarks.” I thought that was cute. Speeches aside, the slides presentation during his speech is what is really important.
You can view the slides at the bottom of the transcript page or download the powerpoint presentation. I pulled out three that really made an impression with me. Continue Reading »
